The Gibson LG-2 was introduced in 1942 as the next iteration of their 10 year old L-00 model. It featured a Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, X style top bracing and a lower body width of about 14 and 1/4″. With a lightly braced top and smaller sound chamber, the LG-2 produces a lot of volume from lighter picking hand. It’s got warm, trebly mid range and a full low end thump. This guitar is extremely fun to play. Such a joy for someone who is looking for a "woody" vintage acoustic guitar.
This fantastic 1949 Gibson LG-2 is in excellent playing condition and ready to get back to work (frets have a lot of life left in them). This guitar is in great condition for a 68 year old Gibson acoustic. It is all-original including the bridge & saddle, but the buffalo horn bridge pins are not original to the guitar. However, good news, the original pins will be included within the case. No cracks, the back & neck is in darn near mint condition on this one. There is checking on the body of the guitar which is normal for a guitar of this age. As well as some small paint chips. The guitar has been left in the case with the proper humidity to ensure it stays in wonderful shape for years to come. Note: This guitar does not have the truss rod cover included.
